Germ Free Zone

Have you ever had one of those moments when you just wish someone hadn’t pinched your baby’s cheek with their grubby hands?  A moment when you inwardly cringe but know you’re not going to do anything other than smile politely whilst imagining the army of micro-organisms marching upon your baby’s less than robust immune system?  Mamabears have come up with a unique solution, kind signs to attach to strollers and bassinets.

Hands off!

Despite those ‘hands off!’  moments and all the recent flu scares,  I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this.  Immunologists regularly tell us we need some exposure to bacteria and viruses if we are to build healthy immune systems.  I’d love to hear your views on this.  Do we overprotect our babies or is it necessary to prevent potentially very harmful illnesses?

100% of the proceeds from the sale of Kind Signs through January 31st will go to Food for the Hungry in aid of the Haitian earthquake relief.  On February 1st Mamabears will announce the total raised.

Mommy would have really liked one of those signs this weekend when not one, but TWO strangers came over and pinched my cheeks – she was ready to punch them – it’s flu season! Daddy makes that argument about SOME exposure to germs being healthy to build my immune system, but Mommy thinks that I can gt that exposure just from my regular interactions with family and, especially, our dog. She doesn’t think there’s any need to get stranger germs!

Hey Cole! You’re one smart baby, nice to see you here! Looking at Will and Holly who’ve just been for a very muddy walk, I’ve got a feeling our dog’s probably the cleanest member of our family right now! I think you’re right, it somehow feels better to share germs with family rather than anyone else.
